WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?

If you are APPLYING FOR GRADUATE STUDY, we recommend that on the online application form you enter "1" in

or in the paper application you complete the relevant section as follows:

You will then be considered for admission by three Ph.D. programs (and we will help you choose which suits you best).  You need not understand the differences among these at this stage.  But, if you are really interested:

These three clustered Ph.D. programs in Ecological, Integrative, and Evolutionary Biology at The University of Chicago provide training for research and teaching in anatomy, behavior, ecology, evolutionary and organismal biology, and paleontology. Three connected academic units make up this cluster: The Departments of Ecology and Evolution (E&E), Organismal Biology and Anatomy (OBA), and the interdisciplinary and multi-institutional Committee on Evolutionary Biology (CEB). Students admitted into CEB usually draw more heavily on faculty from more than one department or on faculty from more than one institution, but students in all programs are encouraged to train broadly by interacting with faculty both within and outside the cluster.
