
Speaker Biography
Javier Urbina-Soria, Professor, School of Psychology, National University of Mexico.
Javier Urbina-Soria has been full time Professor at School of Psychology, National University of Mexico for more than 30 years. From 1989 to 1993 he was Dean of the School of Psychology. His research themes have been the teaching of psychology, health promotion and mainly environmental psychology, field in which he is coordinating the Master's Degree Course. Specific topics he studied during last years are environmental risk perception and environmental risk communication. He has presented more than 220 papers and published about 50 articles and chapters. Recently he edited the book "Beyond the Climate Change. The Psycho-Social Dimensions of Global Environmental Change" (in Spanish language). He was Director General for National Population Registry and Director General for Religious Affairs. He also was General Director for Health Promotion from 1995 to 2000. These three positions are in the Federal Government. Professor Urbina-Soria is member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Environmental Psychology and he was member of the Board of Directors of Environmental Design Research Association (EDRA).
